In parts of the safari industry, base wages are low and workers depend heavily on tips to get by. We pay a higher base wage so a slow tipping day doesn't threaten someone's income

Your driver-guide is the person you'll spend the most time with on safari — spotting wildlife, explaining what you're seeing, and managing the day's pacing. Most of our driver-guides have worked with us for several years, which keeps route knowledge and wildlife tracking skills sharp.

Behind the Scenes | Cooking, Setup, Cleanup

On camping trips especially, a small crew handles tents, meals, and cleanup, often arriving before guests and leaving after. This work is physically demanding and easy to overlook, which is part of why we chose to write this page.

On climbs like Mount Meru, porters carry shared equipment up the mountain. We follow weight limits and provide appropriate gear, rather than relying on cheap, under-equipped porter labor to cut costs.
