5 Days Tanzania Group Joining Safari — Serengeti, Ngorongoro & Tarangire - Overview
Tanzania's northern circuit is one of the world's great travel experiences — and the group-joining safari is the most sociable and cost-effective way to do it. Our 5 Days Tanzania Group Joining Safari places you in a shared Land Cruiser with up to five other independently booked travellers, all on the same itinerary and all paying a shared cost that makes the northern circuit accessible to budget-conscious adventurers without compromising on the wildlife experience.
The itinerary covers Tarangire National Park, the central Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara — the same four parks as our private safari, with the same TANAPA-certified expert guide, the same private 4x4 vehicle, and the same park fees included. The difference is the shared vehicle cost and the added dimension of meeting fellow travellers from around the world who share your passion for African wildlife.
Group joining safaris depart on a rolling schedule — we match solo travellers and small groups with compatible departure dates to form a vehicle. Once your group is confirmed, your itinerary is fixed and your departure guaranteed. This is how thousands of independent travellers experience Tanzania every year — together, affordably, and unforgettably.

5 Days Tanzania Group Joining Safari — Serengeti, Ngorongoro & Tarangire - Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arusha to Tarangire National Park (Elephants & Baobabs)
Arusha to Tarangire National Park. Your group assembles at a central Arusha meeting point for vehicle and guide introductions before driving south to Tarangire National Park. The afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River circuit is an ideal first experience for the group — the park's enormous elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and open riverine landscape are immediately spectacular and accessible. Lion, leopard, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, and over 500 bird species are all resident year-round. A bush picnic lunch is served inside the park before arrival at your first night's camp or lodge. Group members share stories over dinner as the Tarangire darkness settles — the first of many evenings under a remarkable African sky.
Tarangire to Serengeti via Ngorongoro
Drive to Serengeti National Park. After breakfast, the group drives north and west through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area highlands — a brief stop at the crater rim viewpoint for the group's first sight of the famous caldera below. The road descends into the Serengeti ecosystem beyond the rim, the vegetation thinning and the horizon widening as the iconic plains announce themselves. Entry through Naabi Hill Gate and an afternoon game drive in the Seronera Valley — lions on the kopjes, cheetahs on the open plains, and the particular Serengeti silence that settles over the group as the scale of the place becomes clear. Overnight in the Serengeti.
Serengeti Game Drives then Ngorongoro Rim
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim. Pre-dawn departure for the group's best Serengeti morning — your guide positions the vehicle on the Seronera Valley circuits as the golden hour opens across the plains. Lion prides, cheetahs, and leopard are most active and most visible in these first morning hours. A full bush picnic keeps the group in the field through the midday hours before driving east out of the Serengeti and ascending to the Ngorongoro crater rim for the final night's accommodation. The crater below fills with shadow as the highland evening settles — tomorrow morning, you descend into it.
Full Day Ngorongoro Crater
Full Day Ngorongoro Crater Descent. The group descends the crater wall before the first day-visitor vehicles arrive — a 600-metre drop on a steep 4x4 track that delivers you onto the crater floor with a collective intake of breath. The Ngorongoro Crater holds 25,000 large animals in permanent residence: lion prides large and relaxed, elephant bulls with long tusks crossing the open grassland, hippos in the Mandela Pool, and flamingos at Lake Magadi. Your guide actively tracks the crater's black rhino population — one of East Africa's rarest wildlife encounters. A shared bush picnic lunch on the crater floor before ascending in the late afternoon. Group dinner on the rim — the day's best sightings retold and debated over a final meal together.
Lake Manyara Day Tour — Return to Arusha
Lake Manyara & Return to Arusha. The group's final morning begins with a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park — the groundwater forest entrance, the flamingo lake shore, and the search for Manyara's famous tree-climbing lions provide a beautiful, unhurried closing chapter to the five-day itinerary. After a final picnic lunch inside the park, the group drives back to Arusha for hotel or airport drop-off. Five days, four parks, one shared vehicle, and a group of strangers who leave as friends with shared memories of one of the world's greatest wildlife destinations.
