15 Days Great Migration Luxury Safari — Kenya & Tanzania

Arrive into Nairobi and transfer to a boutique hotel on the city's leafy edge, close to the Nairobi National Park boundary. The rest of the day is unstructured — a chance to rest and adjust before the early starts ahead.

Cross into the Mara ecosystem, arriving at camp in time for lunch. Head out for the first game drive in the low afternoon light, when resident lion prides and the open plains herds are typically most active.

A full day in the vehicle from sunrise to sundowner, following the wildebeest columns and the predators that shadow them. Guides use the camp radio network to reposition quickly wherever the action concentrates.

Position at known river-crossing points and wait on herd behaviour, since a crossing is never guaranteed on any single day. Guests who want an aerial view beforehand can add a dawn hot-air balloon flight over the plains.

Range wider into the Mara Triangle's escarpment-backed grassland and the open plains toward the reserve's eastern boundary — different terrain from the previous days, and a last chance at anything missed.

A longer transfer trades the Mara's grass for Amboseli's dust and swamp, arriving at a lodge positioned for direct, unobstructed views of Kilimanjaro from the room.

Amboseli's large elephant herds move between swamp and plain through the day, usually most visible — with Kilimanjaro clear of cloud behind them — in the dawn and dusk light either side of a full day in the park.

Cross the Kenya–Tanzania border at Namanga, with vehicle and guide changeover on the Tanzanian side. The day ends in Arusha, staging point for the northern circuit ahead.

Tarangire is known for its density of ancient baobabs and elephant herds that concentrate along the Tarangire River in the dry season. Camp sits within the circuit, close enough for a game drive on arrival afternoon.

The transfer to Seronera, in the heart of the Serengeti, crosses the Ngorongoro Highlands en route. An afternoon drive across the central plains on arrival sets up three full Serengeti days.

A pre-dawn departure gets ahead of the day's heat and traffic, following the migration's position across the central and southern plains, with breakfast and lunch taken out in the bush.

A second day tracking the migration, weighted toward the resident lion, leopard, and cheetah populations holding territory along the herds' path. A pre-dawn balloon flight is available for those who skipped it in the Mara.

The third Serengeti day pushes out to the northern Mara River corridor or the western Grumeti corridor, whichever the season's migration position favours, reaching country with noticeably less vehicle traffic.

A full descent to the Ngorongoro Crater floor closes out the safari, its enclosed grassland holding an unusually dense concentration of wildlife. The route climbs back out to Arusha in time for the flight home.
