Experience a 7-Day Tanzania Camping Safari Adventure

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Your safari journey begins upon arrival in Arusha, Tanzania’s safari capital. After settling in at your accommodation, meet with your guide for a detailed briefing on the upcoming safari adventure. This day gives you time to rest and prepare for the days ahead. Enjoy an evening at leisure in Arusha, exploring local markets or simply relaxing at your camp.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park, renowned for its massive elephant herds, towering baobab trees, and scenic landscapes. Spend the day exploring the park on a game drive, keeping an eye out for elephants, lions, leopards, and the occasional cheetah. The park's river attracts a diverse range of wildlife, providing excellent photo opportunities. As night falls, settle into your camp within or near the park, falling asleep to the sounds of nature.

Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

Today, journey to the world-famous Serengeti National Park. Along the way, enjoy scenic views of the Rift Valley and rolling plains. Once in Serengeti, begin exploring with a game drive across the savannah, where you may encounter lions, zebras, and, depending on the season, parts of the Great Migration. In the evening, set up camp under a vast starlit sky, soaking in the beauty of the Serengeti.

Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

Dedicate the entire day to discovering the wonders of the Serengeti. Start with an early morning game drive to witness the animals in action as they hunt, graze, and interact. Depending on the time of year, you may have the chance to see the dramatic river crossings of wildebeests and zebras or the calving season with young animals dotting the plains. After a picnic lunch, continue the adventure with another game drive, before returning to camp for dinner and an evening by the campfire.

Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

On this day, depart from the Serengeti and head towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. En route, stop at Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological site where ancient human fossils were discovered. Learn about the history of early humans before continuing to the Ngorongoro Crater rim, where you’ll set up camp. Enjoy breathtaking views of the crater as you prepare for an early descent the next day.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Tour

Start with an early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most spectacular wildlife havens on earth. The crater hosts a high density of animals, including lions, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, and an array of birdlife. Spend the morning exploring the crater floor, with opportunities for close encounters with the Big Five. After a picnic lunch by a hippo pool, ascend the crater and drive to a campsite near Lake Manyara for the night.

Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park and Return to Arusha

On the final day of your safari, visit Lake Manyara National Park, known for its lush, forested terrain and unique tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a morning game drive along the lake, which attracts flamingos, hippos, and various waterbirds. Keep your eyes open for elephants, monkeys, and giraffes, too. After a memorable morning, begin the journey back to Arusha, arriving by afternoon, where you can relax or continue your onward travel arrangements.

What to Pack

Bring light, breathable clothing, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera with extra batteries. Nights can be chilly, so pack a warm layer for evenings at the campsites.

Travel Documents

Ensure you have a valid passport, visa for Tanzania, and necessary travel insurance. A yellow fever vaccination certificate may also be required.

Health and Safety

Malaria is present in Tanzania; take precautions and consult a healthcare provider about preventive measures. Drinking water will be provided, but avoid drinking untreated water.

Wildlife Etiquette

Maintain a safe distance from animals, follow your guide’s instructions, and avoid loud noises to respect the wildlife and preserve the natural environment.

Camping Facilities
