After an early transfer from your hotel, arrive at Machame Gate for registration and briefing. The trek begins through dense rainforest, with chances to see monkeys and tropical birds. The trail is gentle, allowing your body to begin adjusting to the altitude. Overnight at Machame Camp surrounded by forest sounds.
Leave the rainforest and climb into open moorland with wide mountain views. The trail becomes steeper, but the pace remains steady for acclimatization. Shira Camp sits on a high plateau with stunning sunset views over the clouds.
This is a key acclimatization day. Trek uphill to Lava Tower for altitude exposure, then descend to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” approach greatly improves summit success. Barranco Camp offers dramatic views of the Barranco Wall and surrounding glaciers.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall, a fun and non-technical scramble with rewarding views. After reaching the top, continue across alpine terrain to Karanga Camp. The day is shorter, allowing rest and further acclimatization.
Trek through alpine desert to Barafu Camp, the base for the summit attempt. After lunch, rest and prepare for summit night. Guides provide a detailed briefing and early dinner to ensure readiness for the final ascent.
Summit day begins shortly after midnight. Trek slowly under the stars to Stella Point and onward to Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Celebrate your achievement at Africa’s highest point before descending carefully to Mweka Camp for rest.
