Cross the expansive Shira Plateau with views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak. This day focuses on steady acclimatization while enjoying volcanic landscapes and open alpine scenery. Overnight at Shira 2 Camp.
Trek uphill to Lava Tower for altitude exposure, then descend to Barranco Camp. This classic “climb high, sleep low” day significantly improves acclimatization and summit success. Enjoy dramatic views of the Barranco Wall and surrounding glaciers.
Climb the famous Barranco Wall, a rewarding scramble with panoramic views. Continue across alpine terrain to Karanga Camp. The shorter hiking day allows rest and further altitude adjustment.

Summit day begins shortly after midnight. Trek slowly under the stars to Stella Point and onward to Uhuru Peak at sunrise. After celebrating at Africa’s highest point, descend carefully to Mweka Camp for rest and recovery.
