generoustours43@gmail.com Conquer Africa’s highest peak with our 8-day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route trek. Enjoy scenic trails, high summit success rates, and breathtaking views on this unforgettable adventure.
The 8-day Lemosho Route is one of the most beautiful and highly recommended trails to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its stunning scenery, gradual ascent, and excellent acclimatization profile, this route offers one of the highest success rates for climbers.
Starting on the western slopes of Kilimanjaro, the Lemosho Route takes you through lush rainforests, heath, and moorland before reaching the high alpine desert and, finally, the snowy summit of Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views, diverse ecosystems, and a true sense of adventure.
With 8 days on the mountain, this itinerary is designed to maximize your chances of successfully reaching the summit while minimizing the risk of altitude sickness. Our experienced guides, quality camping equipment, and personalized support ensure a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable trekking experience.
Drive from Arusha/Moshi to Londorossi Gate for registration, then continue to the Lemosho trailhead. Hike 3–4 hours through lush montane rainforest to Mti Mkubwa (“Big Tree”) Camp. Keep an eye out for colobus monkeys and vibrant birdlife. Dinner and overnight at camp.
Ascend out of the forest into heather and moorland. The trail climbs steadily along ridges with first broad views of the Shira Plateau. Trek 6–7 hours to Shira 1 Camp on the western edge of the plateau.
A shorter 3–5 hour acclimatization hike across the scenic Shira Plateau. Optional afternoon acclimatization walk toward Shira Cathedral for panoramic views of Kibo and Mt. Meru. Overnight at Shira 2.
Classic “climb high, sleep low” day. Trek 6–8 hours to Lava Tower for lunch at high altitude, then descend into the Barranco Valley’s giant groundsels and lobelias to camp beneath the Barranco Wall.
Scramble up the Barranco Wall (fun, non-technical) with spectacular valley views, then undulate across ridges and valleys to Karanga. Arrive by early afternoon for rest and acclimatization. 4–5 hours trekking.
Steady 3–4 hour climb on alpine desert terrain to Barafu, your high camp. Early dinner, gear check, hydration, and sleep before the midnight summit push. Expect cold, windy conditions.
Begin around midnight via Stella Point for sunrise on the crater rim, then continue to Uhuru Peak—the Roof of Africa. Celebrate, photograph, and descend back to Barafu for brunch, then continue down to Mweka Camp. 12–16 hours total trekking day.
Final 3–4 hour descent through rainforest to Mweka Gate for certificates and farewell to the crew. Transfer back to your hotel for a hot shower and well-earned rest.
