This 8-day Tanzania safari adventure takes you deep into the heart of Northern Tanzania’s most iconic national parks: Tarangire, the vast plains of the Serengeti, and the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. From majestic elephants under baobab trees to the thundering hooves of the Great Migration and the world's densest population of predators, this tour offers unforgettable wildlife encounters. Perfect for photographers, nature lovers, and families, this itinerary blends thrilling game drives with authentic cultural experiences and quality lodgings.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by your professional driver-guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. This is a day to rest and prepare for the safari ahead. If time allows, you may explore Arusha city or visit local markets and cultural centers.
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park (approx. 2 hours). This park is known for its high density of elephants, ancient baobab trees, and seasonal swamps. Game drives reveal buffalo, giraffes, lions, and the elusive leopard. Tarangire is also a birder’s paradise. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch under the acacia trees. Overnight at a lodge inside or near the park.
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park via the scenic highlands of Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy game drives en route as you enter Serengeti’s endless plains. This iconic park is home to massive herds of wildebeest and zebra, especially during the migration season. Arrive at your lodge or tented camp in Central Serengeti in the late afternoon. Evening game drive possible (time permitting).
Spend the full day exploring Serengeti’s diverse habitats. Track lion prides, cheetahs, leopards, and herds of grazers. If visiting during migration months (Dec–July), you may witness river crossings or mass movements of wildebeest. Choose between a full-day game drive with picnic lunch or two half-day drives with a midday break at the lodge. Optional: Hot air balloon safari in the early morning (extra cost).
Another full day of wildlife viewing in the Serengeti. Visit new areas such as Moru Kopjes, Seronera Valley, or move toward the Ndutu area (if in migration season). Look for rhinos near rocky outcrops and monitor predator-prey dynamics. Overnight at the same or a different Serengeti lodge to cover more terrain and increase wildlife sighting chances.
Enjoy an early morning game drive before departing for the Ngorongoro highlands. Stop at Olduvai Gorge Museum (optional) to learn about the cradle of mankind. Arrive at a lodge on the rim of the crater for dinner and overnight stay. Enjoy breathtaking views over the world’s largest unbroken caldera.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a 6-hour game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to nearly every East African mammal species, including black rhinos, lions, hyenas, elephants, buffalo, and more. The crater floor’s lush environment ensures high chances of seeing the Big Five. Picnic lunch at Hippo Pool. Later, ascend the crater walls and head to Karatu for overnight.
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Arusha (approx. 2.5 hours). Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy lunch in town or take a short cultural tour in Mto wa Mbu. You’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro or Arusha airport for your outbound flight, marking the end of your unforgettable 8-day safari.
The safari is great year-round. For migration, visit from December to July. For predator sightings and clear skies, the dry season from June to October is ideal.
