This 4-day group joining safari is ideal for travelers seeking a cost-effective and sociable way to witness the highlights of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. Departing from Arusha, this budget-friendly safari takes you through three iconic national parks: Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater. With shared transport, professional guides, and comfortable mid-range or budget lodges/tented camps, you'll have the opportunity to spot the Big Five, witness stunning savannah landscapes, and enjoy an immersive wildlife experience—perfect for solo travelers, couples, and small groups who want to meet new people and share the magic of a classic African safari.
Your adventure begins with morning pickup from your Arusha accommodation around 7:30 AM. After a briefing with your guide and meeting your fellow travelers, drive approximately 2 hours to Tarangire National Park, known for its towering baobab trees, ancient termite mounds, and massive elephant population. Enjoy a full-day game drive through the park, spotting giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, and perhaps even leopards and cheetahs near the Tarangire River, a vital water source during dry seasons. Break for a picnic lunch inside the park at one of the designated rest areas before continuing your exploration. Later in the afternoon, drive to your camp or lodge in Mto wa Mbu or Karatu for dinner and overnight.
After an early breakfast, depart for the Serengeti with a scenic drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy panoramic views of the Ngorongoro Crater rim as you journey toward the vast Serengeti plains. En route, stop at a Maasai boma (optional, at extra cost) to learn about traditional pastoralist culture. By midday, you enter Serengeti National Park—Tanzania’s most famous wildlife destination. With your guide, begin game drives immediately, searching for prides of lions, leopards resting in acacia trees, and herds of wildebeest and zebra that stretch across the horizon. Overnight in a tented camp inside the Serengeti, with dinner under the stars and the distant roar of lions as your nighttime soundtrack.
Wake up early for a sunrise game drive—the best time to witness predators in action before the heat sets in. This golden hour also offers fantastic photography opportunities. After breakfast, continue game viewing en route as you exit the Serengeti, spotting more wildlife such as elephants, warthogs, hyenas, and colorful birds. Break for lunch at the Naabi Hill Gate and proceed to the Ngorongoro highlands. You'll overnight at a lodge or campsite near the crater rim to prepare for your descent into the Ngorongoro Crater the next morning.
After an early breakfast, descend 600 meters into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. Known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," the crater floor is teeming with wildlife due to its permanent water sources and rich volcanic soil. Here, you’ll have one of the best chances to spot the endangered black rhino, as well as lions, hippos, wildebeests, jackals, zebras, and a great variety of birdlife around Lake Magadi. After a thrilling game drive and picnic lunch, begin the return journey to Arusha, arriving in the early evening around 5:00–6:00 PM. Drop-off at your hotel or Arusha Airport.
